The Montessori whales mobile is in the series of high contrast visual mobiles for the first several months after a child is born. This rustic folk-style whale mobile has been lovingly handmade from upcycled off-cuts of pine from making other Montessori materials in our workshop over the past decade. They were waiting for just the right project, and here it is! Each handmade whale has been templated, cut, sanded, and painted by hand. The wire hanging structure has been custom made by us for this mobile.
There is one orca, two blue whales, one sperm whale and one large humpback whale in the center. You will receive the mobile in the photo (No. 1 in the series of mobiles made like this) since this will be a limited run of mobiles until we use our excess wood from other mobiles that we make in our shop! The whales range from 4 to 6 inches in length, the length of the mobile is approximately 24 inches and the width approximately 24 inches at the widest configuration.
For safety, hang the mobile out of reach from a pet or child, as this is a visual mobile intended for quiet observation and tracking the high-contrast whales with eyes as a child's vision develops and refines in their first year. The best view of the mobile is from below, as that is what the child sees.
While we take great care in packaging our handmade Montessori materials, however the wire on this mobile may bend in transit, but can be reshaped as needed by hand!
